When the new headquarters of the Institute of Banking Studies (IBS) in Kuwait was envisioned, the ambition extended beyond creating a modern institutional building. To meet this challenge, Tractel, working in partnership with BOODAI, delivered a compact Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) that combines high-performance façade access with seamless architectural integration. The result is a solution that supports safe and efficient maintenance while preserving the clean, sophisticated appearance of the building.
Designed by PACE Architecture, Engineering + Planning, the IBS headquarters features a distinctive architectural design incorporating curved façades, varying roof elevations, and a combination of steel and concrete structural elements.
While visually striking, these design characteristics created complex façade access requirements. The building required complete maintenance coverage across all façade areas, but the BMU also needed to remain concealed below the parapet level, ensuring it would not detract from the building’s architectural profile.
