These venues combine irregular geometries with massive surface areas spanning hundreds of meters. Exposed steel canopies, angled curtain walls, and elevated concourse facades each demand a different access strategy. Without a permanent facade access system engineered into the building from the design phase, venue owners face costly retrofits, compliance gaps, and extended downtime between events.
Our team works directly with architects, structural engineers, and venue operators from concept stage through installation and ongoing service. With over 120 years of combined experience across our brands, Facade Access Solutions designs, manufactures, and installs facade access equipment purpose-built for the unique demands of stadiums and entertainment venues.
Facade Access Solutions offers a complete range of products engineered for complex venue facades.
Standard off-the-shelf BMUs cannot navigate the curved rooflines, cantilevered overhangs, and irregular footprints common to stadium architecture. A custom BMU from Facade Access Solutions is engineered to the specific geometry of your venue. Each unit is designed for full facade coverage while remaining concealed from spectator sightlines when not in operation.
Stadium perimeters often feature continuous curved facades that demand uninterrupted horizontal access. Monorail systems follow the exact contour of the building envelope and support self-powered cradles for flexible positioning. These tracks are designed to blend into the roof or soffit structure, keeping equipment out of view during events.
For lower-complexity zones such as concourse exteriors, entrance canopies, and back-of-house facades, davit systems provide a cost-effective suspended access solution. Portable davit arms mount onto fixed bases and can be lowered out of sight when not in use. This makes them a practical option for sections where a full building maintenance unit is not required.
Maintenance workers operating on exposed roof structures, elevated walkways, and canopy edges need reliable fall protection. Tiebacks and lifelines provide code-compliant anchor points for personal fall arrest systems. All anchor systems are designed to meet or exceed applicable safety standards.
Large contiguous facade surfaces on arena exteriors require a versatile platform that operators can position quickly. Powered platforms offer modular, lightweight suspended access for facade cleaning and glass panel replacement. These platforms work in combination with monorail tracks or davit suspension points to efficiently cover wide sections of the venue cladding.
Whether your venue is in the design phase, under construction, or already operational, Facade Access Solutions delivers the right approach at the right stage of your project. Explore our solutions for every phase of a venue’s lifecycle.
Integrating facade access during the design phase avoids expensive structural modifications after construction. Our new construction team collaborates with architects, consultants, and structural engineers from the concept stage to define BMU placement, track routing, structural loading, and parking positions before ground is broken.
Facade Access Solutions provides BIM-integrated design coordination through our integrated design services team. Our facade access consultants embed access planning directly into the building model. This eliminates design conflicts, reduces coordination risk, and gives stakeholders a clear visualization of how the system will operate.
Many stadiums and entertainment venues were not designed with today’s facade access requirements in mind, whether they predate modern safety standards or rely on equipment that has reached the end of its service life. Our retrofit services close that gap. We assess the existing structure, engineer a permanent access system that works within its constraints and loadings, and install it with minimal disruption to your event calendar so maintenance, cleaning, and inspection can be carried out safely and efficiently for the life of the building.
Stadium roofs, canopy structures, and large-span atriums often require the same engineering rigor as bridges and industrial infrastructure. Our infrastructure access solutions apply this cross-sector expertise to venue projects where conventional building access approaches fall short.
Facade Access Solutions provides a full range of services through a global network of factory-trained technicians.
Venues cannot afford equipment downtime during event seasons. Our service solutions include preventive maintenance contracts, emergency repair response, and scheduled servicing programs. All work is carried out by qualified technicians who specialize in Tractel, Manntech, and CoxGomyl facade access systems.
Facade access equipment requires regular inspections to remain compliant with applicable regulations. Our inspection, safety, and compliance programs cover initial commissioning inspections, periodic safety checks, and exceptional inspections after incidents or modifications. Reports are delivered in a format that supports your compliance documentation.
Replacing an entire facade access system is not always necessary. Our refurbishment solutions restore aging BMUs and suspended access equipment to current performance standards. This extends the asset lifecycle, reduces capital expenditure, and minimizes the time your system is out of service.
Using non-genuine components puts equipment reliability and warranty coverage at risk. Facade Access Solutions supplies OEM spare parts manufactured to original specifications for all Tractel, Manntech, and CoxGomyl systems. Genuine parts maintain the safety performance and longevity of your facade access equipment.
Our asset management programs provide full lifecycle oversight of your facade access assets. This includes remote monitoring through the MyBMU platform, predictive maintenance scheduling, and data-driven insights to help you plan repairs before failures occur.
Safe operation of facade access equipment depends on properly trained personnel. Our training programs certify operators, maintenance staff, and safety officers in the proper use and care of BMUs, davits, powered platforms, and fall-arrest systems. Programs are competency-based and aligned with international safety standards.
Facade Access Solutions has delivered facade access systems for some of the most recognized stadiums and entertainment venues in the world.
System Type: Manntech custom BMU with Automatic Positioning System
The MSG Sphere is a 110-meter-tall spherical music and entertainment arena featuring the world’s largest LED screen at over 150 meters wide. Manntech delivered a Type 6 building maintenance unit with an articulating arm that achieves a working distance of roughly 0.6 m (two feet) from the LED surface. The system navigates the venue’s 2,700-tonne steel roof and 170-tonne compression ring that form its spherical shape. An Automatic Positioning System was added to allow operators to select a facade location and be guided to it.
System Type: Three custom CoxGomyl BMUs, monorail with self-powered platform, abseil anchor points
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino features a 140-meter guitar-shaped tower clad in blue glass. CoxGomyl designed a multi-system facade access solution to achieve full coverage across this unique structure. One BMU at roof level operates on a complex track system with a shunt car for concealed parking. A second BMU serves the shoulder of the guitar shape. A monorail with self-powered platform provides access to the lower levels. Abseil anchor points complete the system across the architectural guitar strings.
Facade Access Solutions designs every system to meet or exceed the most stringent standards required by the project location. Key global standards that apply to facade access equipment on venue projects include:
Beyond these international frameworks, each project must also comply with local building codes specific to its region. Facade Access Solutions works with local authorities and compliance bodies to confirm all design, installation, and operational requirements are satisfied before commissioning.
Our engineers are ready to help you plan the right facade access system for your stadium or entertainment venue.
Stadiums and entertainment venues typically require a combination of custom building maintenance units, monorail systems, davit systems, powered platforms, and tieback anchors. The right combination depends on the venue’s facade geometry, roof structure, cladding materials, and planned maintenance cycles. Our facade access specialists can assess your project requirements and recommend the most effective system configuration.
Most stadiums feature irregular geometries, cantilevered roof structures, and curved facades that standard BMUs cannot reach. A facade access BMU designed specifically for your venue provides full coverage across complex surfaces. Custom units can also be parked in concealed positions so they do not interfere with the venue’s visual appearance during events.
Facade Access Solutions engages early in the design process to coordinate with architects and structural engineers. Our process includes BIM-integrated design, custom engineering, in-house manufacturing, professional installation, and long-term service support. As part of the Alimak Group, we draw on a combined portfolio of over 16,000 installed projects worldwide to deliver proven, reliable facade access solutions.
The applicable standards depend on the project location. Key international standards include BS EN 1808 for suspended access equipment, BS 6037 for inspection of permanently installed systems, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66 / 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M for U.S. powered platforms and fall protection requirements, and ANSI/ASME A120.1 for powered platforms. Regional building codes may impose additional requirements. Facade Access Solutions designs every system to the most stringent standard applicable to the project jurisdiction.
